III International Conference
“Reaching the Sustainable Development Goals in Latin American cities thanks to Public Private Partnerships”

November 14th, 2017. Barcelona

indiv

Once again, the PPP for Cities (The Specialist Centre on Public Private Partnerships in Smart and Sustainable Cities) organizes its annual International Conference on PPPs in cities (see events 2016 and 2015). The PPP for Cities International Conference wants to bring knowledge and create debate on how to improve citizens’ quality of life through the implementation of public policies and PPPs. It will take place during the Smart City Expo World Congress, a world-class event on cities that attracts more than 16,600 visitors and representatives from roughly 600 cities and 126 different countries.

This year, the conference will focus on Latin American cities. Latin America is the second most urbanized region in the world, and AIDB forecasts that its cities could concentrate around 90% of its population by 2050. Therefore, the future of Latin America will be parallel to the future of its cities, which calls for the immediate implementation of effective solutions to the problems of urban-dwellers. The UNSDGs are a good framework from which to focalize the problems that public policies will need to tackle. Thus, the UNSDGs will be the starting point in our analysis of PPP projects in Latin American cities.
